The top of this Treasure can is inlaid with Wild Horse Magnesite. Wild Horse Magnesite, also called Wild Horse turquoise, though it is not turquoise, was discovered in the mid 1990’s near the Globe copper mine in the Gila wilderness area of southern Arizona. It may also be found in Africa, China, Brazil, and Europe. Magnesite is a type of calcite, specifically, magnesium carbonate. It is popular because it is encrusted in an aesthetically appealing matrix of hematite. It has a hardness of 3.5 – 5.0 on the Mohs scale.
